Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
